PC GAME FIXES Championship Manager 2001/2002 for related No-CD & No-DVD Patch No-CD & No-DVD Patch troubleshooting: The most common problem getting a No-CD/No-DVD patch to work is ensuring that the No-CD/No-DVD patch matches you're game version, because the games exe is changed when a patch update is applied previous versions won't work. If its an older game you are playing and you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 it may not work, if you right click the.exe file and choose Properties and then Compatibility you can change this to run in Windows 98/ Windows 2000 etc.

Had a thread a few years ago about which game to choose, but now I have a different laptop and a different problem! It's a little Advent N270, 160GB, Win XP. It says 1.6 GHz, then 798 GHz. Which is my processor? Anyway that's not my issue.

It doesn't have a CD drive. How can I play the game? Is there anyway to rip the game to a USB and install it? I work a lot of night shifts and getting footy manager back in business would make life a lot less boring.

PS, anyone know if that laptop can be upgraded or would it even be necessary to play something like FM 05? I reckon if you buy it on Amazon or where ever you may be able to just type the code in to Steam and download it - retail copies can work on Steam too. At the least you could install FM to a household PC with a disk drive and install Steam - then when you open Steam on the laptop you will be able to download it. I believe you can play Steam games without being connected to the internet too. As for Steam being your only option.if you're wanting to play without a disk and without breaking the law then yes, Steam is your only option.

The good thing about FM2010 is that you can use it with/without Steam, but without Steam, you will need the disk. Don't buy games off steam unless it's a sale. They're extortionate.
